By tpgio El presidente Hugo Chávez visito este sábado las obras de construcción del tercer desarrollo de la Central Hidroeléctrica Fabricio Ojeda, perteneciente al complejo Uribante-Caparo. El desarrollo consiste en la creación de un conjunto de obras de ingeniería en el eje de los ríos Uribante, Doradas, Camburito y Caparo, no sólo para la generación de energía sino también destinadas al control de inundaciones, riego, transporte fluvial, turismo, piscicultura y saneamiento de tierras. El jefe de Estado arribó a Santa María de Caparo, municipio merideño Padre Noguera, al suroeste del estado andino para conocer la obra, el cual alcanza actualmente 80 por ciento de avance. Los trabajos comprenden la construcción de una presa cuya sala de máquinas contará con dos unidades generadoras de 257 megavatios cada una —en su primera fase— y la inversión alcanza los 161 millones de dólares. La central Fabricio Ojeda es uno de los 18 proyectos estructurantes de expansión de generación eléctrica que ejecuta la Corporación Eléctrica Nacional y está orientada a cubrir la demanda de energía en la región occidental venezolana. Tras observar la explicación técnica del funcionamiento, capacidad y alcances de la obra, el presidente Chávez se trasladó hacia la Presa La Vueltosa, ubicada en las adyacencias. Está previsto que durante la actividad el mandatario venezolano, acompañado por el ministro del Poder Popular para la Energía y Petróleo, Rafael Ramírez, juramente a la directiva de la Corporación Eléctrica Nacional, presidida por Hipólito Izquierdo.
